Identify 10 trees in your neighborhood by leaf and bark

Walk the block weekly. Press leaves. By week 10 they know every tree on the street.

45 min ages 613· Outdoor

How to do it

Download the Seek app (by iNaturalist, free). Each Saturday, walk a different block. Use Seek to identify trees — point it at a leaf, get the name. They pick up one leaf per new species. At home, press the leaf in a big heavy book between two paper towels. After two weeks, mount them on a poster board with the names. By week 10 you have 10 trees they recognize. Walk the dog with them and they'll point out trees by name. Real botanical knowledge in 10 weeks.
