Make ice cream by hand (no machine)

Cream, sugar, salt, ice. Shake a bag for ten minutes. Sit on the porch.

How to do it

Half cup cream, 1 tbsp sugar, splash of vanilla in a small zip-loc, sealed tight. Put that bag inside a bigger zip-loc full of ice and half a cup of rock salt. Seal the outer one. Both of you take turns shaking it for ten minutes. Sit on the porch. Then open it: ice cream. Talk about why the salt mattered (it lowers the freezing point).
