How to do it
Mammoth sunflowers are fast and dramatic — perfect first plant. Fill a pot with dirt, plant the seed about an inch down, water it. Pick the sunniest window. Every Sunday after dinner, you both check on it. Measure it. Take a photo. The check-in is the real activity — the plant is the excuse.
